6.1 Auto-Group By Clause Bug

Interesting bug I hit today…

Here’s my actual SQL Statement:

INSERT INTO tblInventoryCategories (
Category
,SubCategory1
,SubCategory2
,SubCategory3
) SELECT
i.Category AS Category – Category - nvarchar(30)
,ISNULL(SubCategory1, N’’) AS SubCategory1 – SubCategory1 - nvarchar(30)
,ISNULL(SubCategory2, N’’) AS SubCategory2 – SubCategory2 - nvarchar(30)
,ISNULL(SubCategory3, N’’) AS SubCategory3 – SubCategory3 - nvarchar(30)
FROM Inventory WHERE ISNULL(CATEGORY, ‘’) <> ‘’
GROUP BY i.Category, ISNULL(SubCategory1, ISNULL(SubCategory2, ISNULL(SubCategory3

I allowed Toad to “Suggest” the rest of the Group By clause after typing the word Group By. Check out what it did …

it omitted the , N’’) from each of the ISNULL statements!

Hi ,Darren

I tried this on TSS 6.1 we do have this bug ,now we have fix this in 6.5Beta.

Thanks for your feedback.

Cathy.
