BUFFER CACHE question

Hi all,

SQLOptimizer 9.1 x64, Oracle any 11.1 and 11.2 version

How to reproduce a problem:

  1. Open one case (with connection)
  2. try to start a part that need FLUSH BUFFER, shows that user need privilege
  3. save case.
  4. In another session , grant dba to that user
  5. return to SQLOptimizer, close saved case, and opened one
  6. Problem is still here.
  7. If you close the whole SQLOptimizer and open it and open previously saved case-works!
Seems that close/open SQL case is not reconnecting, what should be.

Any comment?

Hi Damir,

Closing an Optimization session will not close the connection. There is a connection pooling mechanism to reuse the connection later on when you create/open another optimization session.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi,

Thx for your answer-I see the cause, but this is not logical to me. And find it not OK.
why?

If I open multiple parallel connections (let us assume 4 users on 4 different database) and they are in progress of running, now I have to close them all if i have problem with only of them?
For me when i close the sql case, connection should be closed as well. When I open a SQL case, new connection should be established (to read new grants!).

Please take that into consideration.

Hi Damir,

Thank you for the suggestion. I have added your request to our product backlog to consider in the future. We probably will not be able to close a connection when closing an optimization session but we can add an “End Connection” function to do so as it is in Toad.

Thanks,

Alex

p.s. Wish you have a merry Christmas!
