This is not a broken code issue this is a NFR… ( I am sure that we will have
several differences of opinion here)
When I run a Verify SQL or Syntax check the result looks just like a EXECUTE
(F5) run (See table below) …
The only clue is the drop statement.
Is there are way, you can adjust the Verify SQL command to add additional
Message box such as what you have for a failed Verify run, to be displayed.
The new message box would Say à NNN lines processed and SQL Verify
Currently, the Verify syntax goes directly to the message tab, which then
displays the results there, which is not broken.
I almost had heart failure (I do that a lot) when I verified my SP syntax and
got the message the looked like a had dropped and re-created the procedure.
I get around this by using the following syntax, which why you have the message
‘procedure PROC_ISTA_PCI_ NONPROD_CLEANSE - dropped’
IF EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID (N
'[dbo].[PROC_ ISTA_PCI_ NONPROD_CLEANSE] ’ ) AND type in (N ‘P’ , N ‘PC’ ))
DROP PROCEDURE [dbo].[PROC_ ISTA_PCI_ NONPROD_CLEANSE] ;
Print ( ‘procedure PROC_ISTA_PCI_ NONPROD_CLEANSE - dropped’ )
Print ( ‘procedure PROC_ISTA_PCI_ NONPROD_CLEANSE - Not Found’ )
So please look this idea over and let me know what you think .
