I am trying to connect to a remote Oracle 8.1.7.4.1 server. The connection is sucessful (listed in the Listener.log file without error) After connecting, I immedialely get: ``` "ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE" ``` I am using Instant Client 10.0.2.5 ---

try turning on spool SQL (Database -\> Spool SQL -\> Spool to screen) and that will spool to screen all of the queries run from Toad. That may give you an idea of what’s going wrong. I don’t have that exact client to test with, but I just connected Toad 12.6 to an Oracle 8.1.7 server using a 10.2.0.1 non-instant client. If you continue to have problems, you might try a newer 10g client if you have one.
