In the graphic below, I was attempting for the first time to test the feature
Copy/Move database. When it came up with the message below.
Well The Wizard could not start the SQL Server Agent. This may be because it
is trying to start SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) which is a SQL Server 2008 R2,
a SQL Server instance that was not started as show below in the graphic below my
I further speculate that it (Wizard) did not know that there was another
instance SQL Server Agent (SS_2005_DEV), and it wanted to start SQL Server Agent
So I then started the aforementioned service and got this error.
So I consider this a bug because it is nominal to have more than one instance of
SQL Server running on a system regardless of the version. I was able to
prove that this was the case for I then started the SQL Server 2008 R2 à (SQL
Server (MSSQLSERVER)) and then the Wizard went to the next step. The wizard
completed and the job ran to a proper and satisfactory completion.
WOW !!! It worked …. Regardless… Soo the bottom line here is the
software needs to check for existence of a SQL Server Agent for other than the
(SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER))
