Hi,

seems in the output windows some characters get lost somehow

Please see the snippets below.

Andre

DECLARE
lv_count PLS_INTEGER;
lv_count_var VARCHAR2 (3);
BEGIN
lv_count := 205;
lv_count_var := lv_count;
DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Counts: ’ || lv_count_var);
END;
— DBMS_OUTPUT
/*
13:50:27 PL/SQL block executed
Counts: 20
13:50:27 **** SCRIPT ENDED 25.09.2008 13:50:27 ****
13:50:27 End Script Execution
*/

DECLARE
lv_count PLS_INTEGER;
BEGIN
lv_count := 37;
DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Counts: ’ || lv_count);
END;
— DBMS_OUTPUT
/*
13:58:01 PL/SQL block executed
Counts: 3
13:58:01 **** SCRIPT ENDED 25.09.2008 13:58:01 ****
13:58:01 End Script Execution
*/

I can not recreate this, you may want to give them a little more information…

IN THE SPOOL TAB:
**** SCRIPT STARTED 25-Sep-2008 7:55:31 ****
DECLARE
lv_count PLS_INTEGER;
BEGIN
lv_count := 37;
DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line ('Counts: ’ || lv_count);
END;
— DBMS_OUTPUT
==>
PL/SQL block executed
Counts: 37
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
**** SCRIPT ENDED 25-Sep-2008 7:55:31 ****
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

IN THE OUTPUT WINDOW
7:55:31 Start Script Execution …
7:55:31 **** SCRIPT STARTED 25-Sep-2008 7:55:31 ****
7:55:31 DECLARE
7:55:31 lv_count PLS_INTEGER;
7:55:31 …
7:55:31 PL/SQL block executed
Counts: 37
7:55:31 **** SCRIPT ENDED 25-Sep-2008 7:55:31 ****
7:55:31 End Script Execution

Well, I think you are rigth.:slight_smile:

It’s about the red fragments. in my post.
In the first block dbms_output should print
“Counts: 205”,
but does only
“Counts: 20” - the “5” get lost.

Can this be a question of any setting ?

Andre

No settings that I am aware of, I just thought maybe you could gather a little extra. Joe the Jet had pointed out something to me once that I didn’t have enough info and I was able to document it better and a solution was found faster. I ran the 205 and it worked as well. That’s why I didn’t show it in my last thread. The only other thing I can say is my Counts: 205 is Blue even in the spool tab.

Sorry, wish I could be more help…

Hi Andre,

I saw this problem once or twice where the last character is cut off. The thing is when it happens, I can reproduce all the time but then it goes away after a while. I’m not sure what triggered it and I’m not sure what fixed it either. At the moment, I can’t reproduce it so I hope you can help us here. Does it go away if you relaunch Nav and repeat the process?

Hi Gwen,

this did happen for a installation of my collegue.

I just installed the 6.0 GA too and it does not happen to me.
One assumtion is that it could have to do with any client settings, but we have no clue which.
However my collegue told me that he do not have the effect of comming and going. It is the same all the time.
If we will find something importent to this issue I will inform you.

Warm Regards
Andre

Hi Andre,

I finally got an answer for your problem. This bug appears everytime 8i client is used regardless of the database version. I checked with 9i,10g,11g client and none of them has this issue. I will log a CR for this.

Cheers
Gwen
