Consider this simple example:

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE debug\_test AS

TYPE type\_rec IS RECORD(date\_val DATE);

TYPE type\_coll IS TABLE OF type\_rec;

FUNCTION return\_pipe

RETURN type\_coll

PIPELINED;

END;

/

CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY debug\_test AS

FUNCTION return\_pipe

RETURN type\_coll

PIPELINED AS

v\_rec type\_rec;

v\_date DATE;

BEGIN

SELECT SYSDATE INTO v\_rec.date\_val FROM DUAL;

PIPE ROW (v\_rec);

END;

END;

/

If you create the package and execute –

select \* from table(debug\_test.return\_pipe);

It works fine. If you try to step into the debugger you will get a probe timeout and

This is mine thread where I was able to do that
[http://www.toadworld.com/products/toad-for-oracle/f/10/t/34025](http://www.toadworld.com/products/toad-for-oracle/f/10/t/34025)
but I asked why default proposed Toad way is not working.
How ever, you described pretty detailed answer to your question “how to”.

Hope this helps,

Cheers
