Execution plan shows useless commands

#1

The execution plan uses all of the steps available showing unnecessary commands.
I have a script that has a USE statement, several set statements and some
comment lines, I get 12 tabs in the execution plan that show one step each, just
showing a “TEXT” box. It never gets to the meat of the code.

Can you send the script to me so I can replicate the issue? I’ll have to make my
own objects but I’ll be able to reproduce the parsing issues wich is what is
causing the issue.

My script is 150 lines of company specific stuff. But it’s easy to reproduce. Just write a quick script that has a use statement, and several comment lines and you’ll see all of those appear as execution plan steps. Also, I tried this in SSMS and it does the same thing, its just that in SSMS the formatting makes it easier to skip.
