Export DDL does not work when Connection Name different than server name?

#1

Build 6.5.0.2705 I’ve got a connection where:

ServerName = IP Address of server

But the connection name is the customer name and a numeric identifier:

CustomerCode 211

I’m connected to that connection, selected 4 tables, right-click, Generate SQL, DDL Script.

On clicking Build Script get error:

Build DDL Script

Connection IP ADDRESS

Can’t Find Connection ‘xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx’

**

I then went to the connection manager, added a new connection, gave it the same name as the server name (which in this case was just the IP address), and without even re-opening the Export DDL screen just clicked Build Script. This time the script was built successfully.

This is clearly a bug. We shouldn’t have to be naming the connections the same as the server name or IP Address of the server just to be able to run a DDL generation wizard.

Darren, how are you still testing the beta when it has expired?

I haven’t closed it yet. It keeps on working until you exit it. I’ve been working on a big project lately so haven’t closed it in over a week.

You better hope it does not crash…

Instead I close my beta version of TOAD SS 6.5 and turn off my notebook. Now I can’t continue to test it.

Darren,Matt do you know if devlopers plan to release a new beta of TOAD SS 6.5 ?

Best regards,

Sergio

No I don’t. I posted a response on this forum as well as sent an email directly to Kelly Chen and I have heard nothing. Ever since Dell bought out Quest, Toad Beta has been neglected. It they are trying to give Toad a bad name, Dell has a pretty good start on it.

Hi Matt,

many thank’s for your answer.

Effectively the behaviour of DELL is very strange.

I hope to see an answer from someone of DELL’s developers…

Best regards,

Sergio
