Igor, this seems to be reproducible. I am doing nothing special on the XP
workstation other than comparing tables for updates.

I believe this issues has been reported.

Hi Hank,

I’ve tried to reproduce this with diligence on 5.5 and 5.0.2 on my W7
64bit and on XP 32 bit boxes but all works fine! I can’t see the issue
when Obj Exp displays nothing. I’m getting another message differ from
yours when I lost connection.

It seems to me that the reason can be with this particular error that you have:
provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 – Could not open a connection to
SQL Server.

Can you please let me know your SQL Server configuration like on the picture
below. Also, do you have any aliases, ports and so on?

regards,

Alexander Maximov

Alex,

Here is what I have, which seems correct. So what else would like me to
confirm for you ?

Right. Please remember what was the “problem” instance that time and
provide me all its connection settings: Network Configurations (tcp ip, pipes?),
Aliases? I want to reproduce your network error at first. It seems to me that
not handling it in correct way.

I will try to reproduce on the current beta, which I have started to use and get
