Hi,

Can somebody tell me where in Toad setting I can set that when I select some portion of text inside Quotes ("") or w/o it is also selected in other lines too? In Notepad++ this work like I need but I can't find setting for this in Toad.

For example: If I below doble click (or select with Ctrl + arrows) on 10 both values are highlighted. But If I do the same on part of e.g. variable (User) name in Toad these word doesn't highlight like in Notepad++ it does.

It's not the quotes that's preventing the selection. It's the underscore. Toad is looking for the whole word to match before it highlights other matches, but the underscore is part of the word, and so is everything after it up to the double-quote, so it's not matching.

If you didn't have the underscores in your text it would select the other USER words.

If you take the underscore out of this option, it'll select USER in your example, but also when you try to double-click to select something with an underscore in the middle (like DBA\_TABLES), it'll stop at the underscore.

I don't think there is a way to get it to select other text for partial word matches.

This is one possible option, but it does not really solve my problem.

What I would like is the ability to highlight all occurrences of the currently selected text in the code editor.

For example, in Notepad++, if I select text using the keyboard, such as Ctrl+Left/Right Arrow, rather than by double-clicking, all matching occurrences are immediately highlighted throughout the code.

This is very useful when working with variables, field names, or groups of variables, because I can instantly see where they appear in the code.

I would like Toad to have a similar option or setting that enables this behavior.

Notepad++ has a **Match whole word only** option which you have unchecked based on your screenshot. Toad has no such option. I will log an item to investigate adding this.

The example in your screenshots can be resolved by removing underscore as an additional word char in Toad's options as John notes, but this has other implications as well that may not be as desirable.

@Blacksmith - Toad for Oracle 2026 R3 will have a new option to control the highlighting of other occurrences of your selected text. The default setting matches what you see in Toad today. The new option allows for **None** , **Whole words** , and **Any text** where **Any text** is the new behavior you've requested. See the **Editor | Display** page in **Toad Options**.

This option will be in next week's beta.
