TOAD for DB2 v 6.0

IBM DB2 Client 10.1

Whenever I try to view data where a table has a DB2 datatype of CHARACTER FOR BIT DATA (Toad displays as CHARACTER(1))

I get this error:

System.TypeLoadException
Could not load type ‘IBM.Data.DB2Types.DB2SmartLOB’ from assembly ‘IBM.Data.DB2, Version=9.7.4.4, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7c307b91aa13d208’.

</div>

The error message lists DB2 Version 9.7.4.4. What is listed in Tools \> Options \> Database \> DB2 \> General \> DB2 Client?

Thanks,

Eric Sheridan

The error message you are getting is from Toad. Look at the Options menu in Toad.

Thanks, but in that post the person admits to running DB2 9.7.4.4. As I have shown with my screenshots (both the Toad config menu and the ODBC drivers), I am running 10.1.0. which is what TOAD 6.0 requires and is configured to use.

I understand that. However just like in the other post, the error message returned from Toad shows DB2 V9.7.4.4. The error message you provided in your original post shows:

System.TypeLoadException
Could not load type ‘IBM.Data.DB2Types.DB2SmartLOB’ from assembly ‘ **IBM.Data.DB2, Version=9.7.4.4** , Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7c307b91aa13d208’.

Is that not the correct error message you are getting? What version of DB2 does Toad say you are using, not ODBC?

Have you opened a ticket with Dell?

Thanks,

Eric Sheridan

No I have not opened a ticket with Dell yet and yes that is the error I’m receiving.

Again, I have shown that Toad is configure for DB2 10.1.0.

The reason I also show the ODBC screenshot is to show that I don’t have DB2 9.7.4 on my machine. This is a fresh build and has never had 9.7 installed. The only DB2 client installed is 10.1.

I missed that one screenshot. I would save all of your settings and configurations. Then uninstall Toad and reinstall it.

Also you may want to try and upgrade your DB2 Client. It looks like it is the GA level of DB2 V10.1. The latest Fix Pack is Fix Pack 5. I would try going to that level.

If all of this still does not fix the issue then I would open a ticket up with Dell.

Thanks,

Eric Sheridan
