Installing SQL Nav onto XP 64 bit

#1

Is this build supposed to work on Windows XP 64-bit, too?
I installed this build (after uninstalling the 972 build, which expires in a few days anyway), but cannot connect to any (Oracle) DB. Seems that a 32-bit executable is installed, which might have something to do with is… (mismatch witch Oracle libs?)

Edited (872 -> 972).

Hi,
This is a known issue (also in the current GA release) where SQL Navigator should not be installed in the c:\program files (x86) folder. Nav is a 32 bit application.

The issue is we could not load OCI files when Nav installed in c:\program files (x86)
This build supports XP 64bit. The work around to install Nav into a non default folder like c:\Quest Software…
Can you please uninstall the application running Quest Installer from Start->All Programs->Quest Software->Quest Installer->Quest Installer
Please do not uninstall using the Control Panel.

Then select SQL Nav and other products like below product to be removed screen -

Then install Build 1014 again, this time choose non program files folder in the product selection screen for SQL Navigator as attached product install screen -

Please let us know if this would allow you to connect to Oracle DBs.

We will try to resolve this issue OR will make changes in the new Quest Installer to inform you about this or force the default path for 64 OS to non ‘program files’ when we go live.

Thanks,
Bruce

Bruce,

This workaround indeed fixes the problem. Strange, though, because build 972 got (by default) installed under the (64-bit) “Program Files” folder and ran flawlessly from there.

Thanks Dominique for the update.
Glad to hear that you have a working environment now :-).

Hi

The workaround also works in Windows 7 64 bits

Thanks!
