# My TOAD Application Throws an error when launched

Hi Everyone,

Am having an issue when launching TOAD Version 12.1

I have shared the screenshots of the same.

Anyone here who has ever experienced a similar issue?

You can solve it by renaming your user files folder.  
Rename `C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.1`  
to `C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.1 backup`

Then start Toad.  
It should start but settings will be lost.  
If you want to get your connections back, shut down Toad again, then copy Connections.XML from `C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.1 backup\User Files` to `C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.1\User Files`

I tried the first step, but Toad still threw the same error.

It's possible that Toad is re-importing settings on startup.

The next thing to try would be to uninstall, make sure settings from this any other Toad version are completely gone (Delete them manually if you have to - you can keep a copy of connections.xml to re-import later if you want), then reinstall.
