Morning Gajendra,

Using 11g client in this way, you can connect from Toad to databases
running versions as follows:

11.2.0.2 connects to 11.2, 11.1, 10.2.0.2 or higher and 9.2.0.4 or
higher. Note, 10.1 is not a supported combination for this version of
client.

11.1.0.6 connects to 11.2, 11.1, 10.2.0.2 or higher, 10.1 and 9.2.0.4 or
higher.

Now, it is possible that the client will still connect to other versions
of Oracle databases, the above are the combinations that Oracle will
support - given proper support contracts etc.

For example, I have been able to get an 8.0.6 client talking to an
Oracle 11.2.0.2 database. It works, until you try and select from a
table which has a column in a data type that is new since 8.0.6 -
timestamp for example. Then it fails miserably!
