out of memory errors nav 6.7

#1

one of my users is getting an out of memory error in nav 6.7. He has uninstalled and re-installed nav. Cleared the history but the problem still persists. He has also removed nav from the registry but the problem keeps happening.

Do you have any ideas on how to resolve this type of issue?

Hi Henry,

Thank you for your feedback.

Can you please ask him to try to remove user profile data see if it works? Before you remove it you’d better make a backup.

XP: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Quest Software\SQL Navigator 6.7.0

win7: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\SQL Navigator 6.7.0

For the out of memory issue, I would like to confirm with you:

  1. Please check in the Task Manager see if sqlnavigator.exe still running after the out of memory error display?

  2. Did the same problem happened in v7.0 build?

  3. Can you tell when or how the out of memory issue happened?

Let me know if remove user profile works or not, thanks.

BTW Henry,

we need your confirm about the join statement issue if it works well now for you, could you please have a check and give me a feedback here: www.toadworld.com/…/13637.aspx

Thanks and regards,

Shirly

Ok - we found the problem.

in nav 6.7 -

The user set the read buffer to 10000 in the session preferences in sql nav. I had him drop the buffer to 250 and he was able to run his queries. Please investigate the read buffer size setting in sql nav. if changing the read buffer size does nothing - then please remove this setting in the preferences.

Hi Henry,

Glad to know that you have found the work around.

The Read Buffer Size refers to how many lines to fetch one time, Maximum is 10000.

Thanks,

Shirly
