Problem Exporting Test

I am getting the following error when trying to export a test:

ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
ORA-06512: at “OTCQCT.QU_HARNESS_XP”, line 1234

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I am using version 1.5.2

Is this freeware? trial? commercial? If either of the latter two, please know that you can and should report this bug to Quest Support.

Now, having said that:

  • What version of Oracle are you running?
  • Do you have any large customization sections in your code? How large?

And finally, could you please turn on tracing (see Help doc for instructions) and then run your export?

Then run this query and send me ( or post the results:

select id, context, text from qu_log
where context like ‘%replace_string%’

Regards, Steven

Hi Steven,

Yes, we are trialing Code Tester.

I am running Oracle 10.2.

I have quite a lot of DML in the Initializatrion section - around 200 lines ( which includes comments and white space ).

I ran the following:
select id, context, text

from otcqct.qu_log

where context like ‘%replace_string%’

And got
2994 11:00:24-20070523 replace_string CLOB chunk count 1
2997 11:00:24-20070523 replace_string CLOB chunk count 1
3000 11:00:24-20070523 replace_string CLOB chunk count 1
3003 11:00:24-20070523 replace_string CLOB chunk count 1
3006 11:00:25-20070523 replace_string CLOB chunk count 1
3007 11:00:25-20070523 replace_string terminated with error ORA-06512: at “OTCQCT.QU_HARNESS_XP”, line 1198

Is there just one initialization section with custom logic or five?

Thanks, SF

There is only one section in the GUI I have added DML to. It actually results in PROCEDURE setup having 1725 lines of code ( a bit more than 200 I know … I guess your code reformats my DML in the Initialization tab ) … but its all simple DML.

I just loaded up over 7000 lines of code into my test case initialization section and it exported…is your code in the TC initialization section, UT, which?

I continue to look at the code…sorry about this!

Andrew, please send me an email at so that I can reply to you with a special tweaked version of qu_harness_xp that will help me understand what is happening in your code.

Thanks, SF
