Hi!

I’ve just installed Toad 10.0, but I choosed to install in another path
than Toad 9.7.

In the first time I run toad 10.0 it asks to migrate user files from Toad 9.7.
Then I supposed that my connections list will be migrated, including passwords
that I have saved.

But when this process finished, I can’t see my old connections in the new
connections screen.

Could anyone help me?

Thanks,

Rodrigo B. Campacci

This is the first we’ve heard of an issue like this Rodrigo. My suggestion would
be to shut down Toad and navigate to your Toad app data location (C:\Documents
and Settings[user]\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle)

You should see a 9.7 folder and a 10.0 folder. Usually I would just suggest to
delete your 10 folder and run Toad again. This will mimic a fresh install and
you will be prompted to copy over your settings again. I would actually try this
first, and then if that doesn’t work, continue. The next thing I would try would
be to copy connection files over manually. Remember, we are still in app data.
These files are located in the User Files sub directory in Toad’s app data
folder: CONNECTIONS.INI, CONNECTIONPWDS.INI. Copy the files over from your 9.7
user files folder to your 10.0 user files folder

I hope this helps.

Another thing to check, Rodrigo, is if you have a SettingsLocation.INI file
located in the User Files subfolder of your 9.7 app data directory, which as
Brad mentioned, should be located at:

C:\Documents and Settings[user]\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for
Oracle\9.7\User Files

This file was used in installations prior to 9.7 to allow a user to specify
their own user folders, but was deprecated in 9.7 and replaced in Toad 10.
Normally, this file wouldn’t be located in this folder; however, if it
accidentally got in there, it could affect the migration logic. If this file
exists, simply rename it or delete it and then follow Brad’s suggestion
below to delete your 10.0 folder and run Toad again.

Let us know if this helps.
