Profile & Formatting options

#1

When you save your profile options, and them import them into a new copy of SQL Nav, it does not bring over your Formatting options.

Thanks.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your feedback. I have a few more points that I hope you can clarify for us:

  1. Prior to backing up your user profile, was there a fmtOptions.opt file in your user profile folder (eg. C:\Documents and Settings\bchee\Application Data\Quest Software\SQL Navigator 6.0.0 Beta)

  2. When you edit your Formatter options, do you usually edit the fmtOptions.opt in your Nav application folder, or the one in your user profile (assuming that is such a file there). This information is displayed at the top of the Formatter Options GUI.

  3. Could you check if the following use case works for you:

a. If you have a fmtOptions.opt file in your user profile folder, point to that file in your Formatter Options GUI and make some changes. If not, make some changes to the file in your Nav application folder and check if a fmtOptions.opt file appears in your user profile folder. Open the fmtOptions.opt file in your user profile folder with the Formatter Options GUI (either from NAV, or by running FmtOptions.exe in your nav app folder) to verify that your previous changes are still there.

b. Close NAV and use the Profile Manager to backup your user profile.

c. Rename your “SQL Navigator 6.0.0 Beta” folder in your user profile folder.

d. Using the Profile Manager, restore the previously backed up user profile.

e. At this point, the “SQL Navigator 6.0.0 Beta” folder in your user profile should be recreated and fmtOptions.opt should be included in the folder.

f. Using the FmtOptions GUI, open the fmtOptions.opt file in your user profile to see if your changes from Step A are there.

Thanks !

regards,

Bernard
