Safe as table inserts - results in wrong formed statements

#1

Hi all,

(another from Alex)
If you are trying to save Data from a query as table inserts to a file
and you have decimal values in some columns, the numeric data is saving in the windows language format.
This results in wrong formed statements, because e.g. in Germany the decimal letter is a comma (,)
and not a point (like in English speaking countries).
Therefore there must be a conversion of the numeric values into a insert statement,
so that all numeric values use points as decimal letter without depending on the selected language in windows.

Andre,

In SQLNav 5.5 there was an option (when exporting data) “Apply NLS database settings to numeric data types” - this option made sure that in such a data export a numeric field like 1.1 got converted to to_number(‘1.1’,‘9D9’,‘NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS =’’. ‘’’).
I assume this is the behavio(u)r you want?

there are diffs in:
Options in 5.5 vs. Options in 6.1

Maybe it will be re(implemented) later on ?
