Shift + CTRL drag and drop

#1

Salut.

Why was it decided to use Shift + Ctrl drag and drop to drop shortcuts from the physical model explorer to a workspace, instead of just drag and drop?

Hello,

Here I’m with an explanation:

  • drag and drop = Move
  • CTRL + drag and drop = Copy
  • CTRL + SHIFT + drag and drop = Shortcut

Drag and drop from Model Explorer to WS within a model:

  • In this case, Move is not permitted as the entity exists in the model, so the Move operation in this case has no sense.
You can only create a shortcut of this entity in workspaces, and for this purpose CTRL + SHIFT + drag and drop should be used.

Drag and drop from Model Explorer to WS between two models - A and B:

  1. Entity - Entity will be moved from model A to model B. It will not exist in model A then.
  2. Shortcut - Shortcut will be moved from model A to model B. The entity will exist in model A, however the shortcut from particular WS of the model A will be removed.

CTRL + SHIFT + drag and drop always creates only a shortcut in WS.

Generally, we have wanted to use the same combination of keys for the same operation no matter if we work with one model or two models.

If you have any questions, please write me back.

Regards,

Vladka
