Please note this is still work in progress, there are some components that are disabled due to a number of issues of some third party compoents, we will fix those issues during the Beta cycles.
Feel free to give feedback on what you like, or don’t like and any serious issues you may find along the way.

Here are some problems that I stumbled upon working with it for a couple of days:

  1. The Edit > Indent and Edit > Unident doesn’t work.
  2. In Code Templates - there is no way to make a template without automatically adding a new line in the end of the code. The new line is added automatically.
  3. There is a problem with it to understand the code in .sql file. Here is an example (In the picture (ScreenShot361_1.jpg)).
    It won’t show the content of the sql file as a package with 3 procedures.

Another bug using Oracle DB and Win7 64-bit:
(Also appears on SQLNav 6.3)

  1. CREATE TABLE mpa_test_table (id NUMBER);
  2. SELECT * FROM mpa_test_table;
  3. Try to add new rocord and input an invalid value (non number). And press TAB.
  4. SQLnav crashes.

Is this the right place (topic) where to report bugs?

#6

Hi Martins,

You can report bugs here. Also it would be easier for us to track bugs if we create new threads to report different bugs respectively.

Sorry we haven’t replied your last post here. We still could not reproduce the issue. Do you get this kind of problem consistently on any table? Could you try to connect to another database to test?

Thanks,
Vincent

#7

Ok, next time -> in a new thread :slight_smile:

Yes, I get this on any table. Just type a letter in a new record where number is expected and press TAB.
And yes, just tried it on:
Oracle DB versions:
11.2.0.3.0
9.2.0.8.0

Both crashes.

Thanks Martins for the information.

Could you open Quest SQL Tracker from start menu (right under SQL Navigator)? Please select sqlnavigator.exe in the list and press button “Start Monitoring” before you try to edit the row. Check if there is any SQL captured by SQL Tracker when you edit the row and press TAB.

Could you also have a quick test in the Data tab of a Table Editor too?

Thanks,
Vincent

This is all the SQL Tracker (Cool thing by the way) generated:

Timestamp: 14.12.2012 9:43:03

select column_name,data_default from sys.all_tab_columns
where data_default is not null and table_name=‘MPA_TEST_TABLE’
and owner=user

name=[‘MPA_TEST_TABLE’]

Elapsed time: 0.070

Timestamp: 14.12.2012 9:43:23

SELECT *
FROM mpa_test_table
WHERE ROWID = NULL
FOR UPDATE NOWAIT

Elapsed time: 0.005

Data tab in the Table Editor also crashes the same way.

Tried testing on Win XP (32-bit) SQLnav 6.3 and Oracle db 10.2.0.1.0 - it didn’t crash.
So it seems to me that is a Win7 64-bit thing.

The problem “In Code Templates - there is no way to make a template without automatically adding a new line in the end of the code. The new line is added automatically.” that I mentioned is back in v.7.0.1 and also in the new beta 7.1.0.3435!
