Syntax colors have disapeared from TDA 3.7 Beta

#1

Apart from Oracle syntax colors have disappeared from TDA 3.7 Beta.

Another thing: when running a request on Teradata, it appears that the results are displayed in a white zone. I can access them.

Could you please have a look?

Thank you for posting in Toad World Beta Forums!

I was unable to reproduce your issue using ToadDataPoint_Beta_3.7.0.296. To make sure I did it right, I simply connected to any non-Oracle platform and typed in the Editor. I also executed a SQL statement in Teradata and got a result set but could not access the white zone. I interpreted “accessing white zone” as being able to “click in the empty white space as cells.”

I feel that a screenshot and your reproduction steps would help us reproduce the issues you’re encountering.

I look forward to your response.

Hello,

I am not in front of my work PC right now.

What I can tell is that I noticed that existing sql file (for the Local Storage for instance) would not display with colors.

While sql request that I am typing are correctly displayed.

If I reproduce the Terradata problem again, I will do a screen capture of it.

Thank you for your answer.

Regards,

Alexandre DOLIQUE.

To Alexandre Dolique:

Thank you for your response. I didn’t see the SQL Statement in the post you made, but I wanted to check if perhaps Large Script Mode was in effect.

Large Script Mode disables features like syntax highlighting. You can tell when the right-hand pane says “Large Script Mode”
Large Script Mode 1.png

If it is enabled, you can restore such features by disabling “Large Script Mode”

To Disable or Modify conditions for Large Script Mode
Large Script Mode.png

  1. Tools -> Options
  2. In the “Options” window, select in the left hand pane “Editor/General”
  3. You can disable or modify the conditions for “Large Script Mode” in the “Editor - General” page.
  4. Select “OK” or “Apply” when finished.
  5. Close existing Editors with Large Script Mode, if any. Then open the SQL again!

Let us know if this was the issue you were experiencing!

Hello Joshua,

Thank you very much for your answer.
It seems indeed to have been the problem.

However, when reopening large SQL files, I had an error message. I’m not sure if this is related?

System.NullReferenceException

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Stack Trace:

at Quest.Toad.Editor.EditorForm.ExecuteSmartIdle(BarItem barItem)

To Alexandre Dolique:

Thank you for your reply. I regret that I was unable to reproduce your issue when trying a .sql file up to 30 megabytes.

If you could reproduce the issue and attach both your .SQL File and your Toad Support Bundle, it would immensely help us developers with a possible solution.

How to Create a Support Bundle and Post It

  1. Launch Toad Data Point through the shortcut with the parameter /log=all.

  2. Reproduce the issue and ensure the error message appears.

  3. Select Help -> Support Bundle

  4. A new tab will appear. After it’s done generating the bundle, Right-click the tab -> Save File to save the .zip file to any directory of your choosing.

  5. Return to the Toad World thread and Post a Reply using Rich Formatting

  6. Compose a message

  7. Select the Options tab next to Compose, then click Click to Add to add the .zip support bundle

  8. Post when you’re ready!

Thanks!
