toad 4.7 beta 353

#1

first light …

  1. tool does not install into the windows software list (XP SP3), at least i couldn’t find it. uninstalling it is difficult.

  2. at first startup, if you click some other version to copy settings from, it renders your db2 client unusable. db2 client console is not reachable, just didn’t start up. may be the client is not linked / licensed correctly for that path (because copying just the 4.6 client to somewhere else but the install directory does not work).

  3. after that you get a nice java-stack when trying to connect.

Petr,
We have not seen issues like you have reported.
It might appear that the installation did not complete 100% successfully.
Are there any other users at your site that have the exact issues?

To assist us determine what might have gone wrong, can you please post the
following information:

Using regedit:

  1. export HKLM\SOFTWARE\IBM\DB2 to a text file.

  2. export HKLM\SOFTWARE\Quest Software to a text file.

  3. export HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products to a text file ( tells what
    products are installed )

  4. export HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Uninstall to a text file (last
step the install does updates this registry)

Please send in your
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\machine.config file.

Also a screenshot or text of the stack error would be great too.

Thanks

Hi jeff,
same situation here. When i uninstalled toad removed some drivers as well…
I have both toad and dbartisan, now with drivers gone, dbartisan doesn’t work
anymore…
I don’t have admin rights on my machine, so can’t get regedit info.
Any other options??

Thanks
Padma

hello Jeff!

i removed the toad 4.7 directory and re-installed toad without taking any
settings over. now at least i can open the db2 console to set environment vars
(like ldap) (but as of today (after reboot) i cannot connect at all, each try to
connect produces a java-stack. separate email)

i still don’t get the product listed in installed apps of windows.

i think the last key should read:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Petr,

Your db2.reg and quest.reg files have a header of REGEDIT4 which indicates they came from an Windows NT/2000 system. Did you attach the wrong files?

Petr,

Thank you for the information you have provided. If possible, could you rerun the installation from the command line with logging turned on…

C:>ToadForDB2_Beta_4.7.0.353.exe /Lx “C:\log.txt”

Please send back the log file and let me know if you are prompted to remove your previous install.

hello Ken,

re-istalled with log. strange enough, now toad 4.7 does appear on my sw-list. i
uninstalled it properly and re-installed without log (double-clicking the exe).
also this time, it registered properly. so, this part is fine now. even though
it was all time the same executable.

next step: first time startup, you’re proposed to have the catalog-info taken
over from some installed client. my default client is a standard RTCL 9.1. toad
copies something and presents the connections-screen with my predefined
connections (which were there in other toads, i have also 4.5 and 4.6
installed), where ever it has taken these from. but connect does not work, ERROR
[42705] [IBM] SQL1013N The database alias name or database name “DSRZDB2D” could
not be found. SQLSTATE=42705.

starting db2 clients cmd is now working properly (in contrast to my very first
install of toad4.7). a db2set -all shows, that the settings have been not taken
properly:

correctly, this should look like:

after entering this, toad4.7 can connect properly.

-> my conclusion: first install failed somehow, but reinstalling toad several
times leaves some traces in the registry, which correct the subsequent installs.

regards,
Petr.

Padma,

Did Toad show up in the Windows Add/Remove list for you? Or did you manually uninstall Toad and then have problems? Are you still having problems with your environment?
