Hi,
application variables cannot be used there. Quick hint: open the form of object for which you wish to set default value using application and click the <%> button at bottom left corner. List of application opens and at bottom you can find where the selected application variable can be used. In general, the purpose (originally) was to be able to use the application variables in SQL code of stored procedures, functions and to use them in comments. Names and captions of other database objects were not targeted. We will consider improvements in this area.

Yes this would be useful, so you don’t have to write a macro to generate such a name.
Thanks,
Sebastien
I’d like such an improvement, too.
