export dataset does not work on grid filled with F5

Enter a Select in Sql Editor.

Run script by pressing F5: you get a tab “Grid 1“ with a Grid on it.

Export this grid: right click, export dataset to a excel sheet: excel is empty.

Thanks,

Patrik

We haven’t been able to reproduce this, Patrik. Can you give us some
more details?

Weird.

Here my select statement:

select 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 from dual ;

I exported (the “Grid 1” on the “Script Output” tab!) to
a “Excel File” (see settings.jpg)

John, I get a Excel File and it opens, but it contains no data and no select
statement. Only one sheet called “Sheet2”. (see attachment)

Are you still not able to reproduce this?

Patrik

I can reproduce this too, with another query. The problem is that the code is
executed with F5 and the data in Grid1 is not exportable. Maybe because the
export function is written for the standard grid that is bound to F9? And that
one has zero records. It is not there.

Patric, I would suggest for the time being use F9 for executing the query to a
better grid.

Huh. Still can’t reproduce it.

It’s interesting that you only see “sheet2”. Makes me wonder
what happened to sheet1.

Will you send your toad.ini? Maybe some other setting is at play here.

Still it works for me. Try this – shut down excel, then look in Task
Manager. Do you see an EXCEL.EXE still running? If so, kill it.

Other than that, I’m out of ideas.

I can’t reproduce this either. However I never liked the way export
directly to excel worked. There have been some issues with the data. (i.e. not
in columns etc)

Try saving as tab delimited and exporting into excel.

That’s troubling Gene, do you have some examples we can try to work through?

What version of Excel are you using, and do you try the Instance or the File exports?

Is it an internationalization thing? Since I am Swiss and Wim sounds European
too…

Jeff: I use Excel 2007.

John, I sent you my toad.ini offline, if you want to try.

Wim’s query was just a simple “select 1,2,3,4 from dual” so it
does not seem like an internationalization problem to me (no dates, decimals,
extended ascii or unicode characters).

I’m talking about Windows Settings.

Toad is a great product, but you guys are not very good in internationalization,
since after every new installation I have to change the paper layout from
“Letter” to “A4”

Oh. I exported it as A4.

Patrik and Wim,

What version of Excel do you have? I have 2007 and can’t reproduce
it. Someone else in our office can reproduce it and he has Excel 2003.

I’ve been using V10 from the inception and it was fine until i had to work all
day on my UK database.

SE and SB screens started to freeze every 5 minutes or so for about 30 seconds.
The freezing happens even when i view TOAD options

( i was trying to find out if i have wrong options checked).

What could be a problem?

It definitely not a database issue as i was monitoring it separately and there
were no waits from my TOAD connections.

Do you have the option checked to auto save Toad options every X minutes? What
about the option to backup editor contents every X minutes? If you are still in
a position to test, try disabling both of those options.

Michael

Maybe it is the Save Settings Every… option under General. What is that set
to?

Ed

[TeamT]

i disabled the second one. Where is the first one?

I use Excel 2007. But that is a stupid question. The XLS file is generated by
Toad and I as far as I know not by an application (not sure). The generated file
is 4096 bytes in size. Anyhow, not the case.

I’m Dutch, but I use American settings, but not for date formats.
