Getting an error (SQL1460N) trying to set up my first connection

I’ve recently installed Toad for IBM DB2 5.2.0.884. I’m trying to establish my first connection. The full text of the error message is: ERROR [] [IBM] SQL1460N The environment variable “SOCKS_NS” required for SOCKS server name resolution is not defined or not valid. I’ve searched for some info on SOCKS_NS, but have not found any references. Does someone have a suggestion or explanation of what’s going on? What additional information would be needed to help come up with an answer?

Did you specify SOCKS security type on the host when creating the Toad connection?
