"Other Activity" in the Performance Analisys

Hi,

I am investigating an Oracle database with Quest Performance Analisys application.
In SQL Statements tree I see that “Other Activity” took a lot of resources.
How can I find out what is this activity exactly? Is this background processes?

Thank you in advance

Contact Quest Support, they have a document that explains the breakdown of wait
events that fall into the ‘Other’ category for Performance Analysis.

Thank you for reply.

Meanwhile I have seen that Quest comment it as ‘Database activity for which
the SQL statement text is not available (usually caused by very short SQL
statements which executed and lasted less than the StealthCollect collector
sampling cycle).’

Do you know what is this “StealthCollect collector sampling cycle”?

Thank you,
M.

Completely off topic, but yes.

The Stealth collect agent is reading the database activity from the memory
kernel of the database engine. It samples that area as much as 400x a second.

There are many other reasons it can fall into ‘other’ and there have
been bugs in the software as well which can be addressed. By Support J if
you need help starting this dialog, feel free to email me directly.
