If anyone else feels strongly about this please reply to the group. I’ve mentioned this before, but never gotten a response.
Toad v4.1 and previous would maintain the case of a table alias in code completion. After typing the alias name (in lowercase) and the dot separator, v4.1 would maintain the case (T1) of the alias, regardless of what case was typed to trigger code completion. Toad 4.6 and up has lost that.
Toad 4.1
Toad 5.0
If I use an alias, I want to maintain the case of that alias throughout the code, and I LOVED that v4.1 did it for me. Maybe I got spoiled, but now I find myself going back to 4.1 anytime I use aliases, which is pretty much always. It seems like a small thing, but code completion is about taking care of the petty things so the developer can focus on the important stuff.
I’m seeking community support to help convince the devlopers this is an issue worth addressing.
Thanks,
Eric

Eric, I concur and you have my support !!! Readable code is and should be a
standard that is not compromised by as what you have suggested is upper and
lower case inconsistency. As a development manager, I would reject code that has
mixed upper and lower case on an Alias or even a field name.
I may have not caught it as you have but I whole heartedly agree. SOOOO Good
Catch !!!
I did not catch this either, but I really only started using the newer
versions of Toad in the last couple of months. I stayed with 4.1
because of the familiarity.
As the manager of the databases, I too reject code that has mixed upper
and lower case between various parts of the procedures. I completely
concur with your recommendation to put this back in to the Toad product.
Yes, 387 is the latest beta drop. Strangely enough you didn’t get any
alerts because notifications were made as usual for toad_ss_beta and toads which
were synced to Toad Community. The original postings are:
