I cannot reproduce this. Is the text actually adding a new space for you or is it just visualizing as if there is a new space there? Copy the text out of the Editor and paste into Notepad and see if there are actually spaces being added. If not, you may be hitting a defect that started in 17.1 when Windows scaling is set above 100% and the default Editor font has been changed to something that is not a multiple of 10pt.
