Excel Header/Footer

Is there a way, within the TDA Automation, to specify the Excel header/footer that you want to use?

I know I can use an Excel template through an Export Template, but this approach has proven to be a major headache when moving from one machine that has automated reporting to another - having to re-write the paths on dozens of reports and export templates took much too long, so I’m trying to avoid this approach if at all possible.

I’m afraid the answer is no. As for using templates, did you try to use relative paths to eliminate rewriting scripts when moving from one computer to another? Was it or wasn’t it helful?

Thanks,

Igor.

I was afraid of that. I did find out that I can “replace” the default Excel workbook that Excel uses when creating a new workbook - does TDA call this when exporting a spreadsheet, either through the one-click export or the “Select to file” export from automation?

I have begun using relative paths, but not all of my automation scripts use a template - most just write an Excel file, hence seeing if there was a way to configure that from the Automation script.

You should be able to use Maros for this.

Or you can use an existing Excel file and manually put in the custom headers/footers and then replace the data at runtime. The only issue with that is if you have different numbers of rows.
