Importing search criteria from file

I was wondering if there is a way to import search criteria from a file? For example if I want to use the IN function and provide hundreds of criteria from a file, instead of having to type them it would be nice to import them. I do not know if anyone is aware of Hyperion Brio (this is the software we are replacing with Toad), but it allowed this option. We don’t use it much, but when you need it, it sure comes in handy.

Hi,

Can you please clarify, which area\module you are talking about (SQL Editor, Query Builder…)?
In would be nice if you can attach a screenshot about how it’s being processed in Hyperion Brio so we will be on the same page.

Vlas.

I would like to do it from the Query Builder. I added a screen shot of
Brio’s file upload interface. When you first select to add limits you
have to click on the Advanced buttton. You then get the option to choose
a file with the limits in it. We just use a text file with each limit on
a seperate line.

And yes, I realize this is not the most efficient way to use SQL by
setting hundreds of limits. And yes, it is very slow. But like I said,
it is rare that we do it, however, when you do need it, it sure is a
pain to have to type that many limits.

If this is not possible in Toad, can I put in a request for future
versions to implement it?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your feedback.
I have created CR 85639 to track this request.

Can you please attach screenshot of your populated dialog,- it seems that your big picture was changed to the extremely low resolution picture.

Here is another screen shot of just the dialog window for selecting limits. You
can see the section at the bottom for choosing a file.
