Question is: which of both modes does Toad support (or want
to support) ?
Toad needs to come down on the side that works correctly. I would say
that a slash on it's own is an error or a command to the
parsers/sql*plus etc, to end editing and execute.
We also have the 'r' and the 'l' commands in sqlplus, in a line of their
own, they "run previous command without listing" and "List command
without executing".
