RE: [Toad Data Point - Discussion Forum] Teradata - regular query OK, same in cross-connect throws error

Debbie,

Here is bundle.

I did logging, but not sure how to extract the logs. I viewed them, and don’t see anything other than a mysql warning about date formats.

To help isolate the issue, I have restricted the number of data sources to just one (1). I only have a single source identified to Toad Data Point 3.7 (a Teradata database). That is, I am testing a query in cross-connection mode, but there is no second database I am cross-connecting to.

When I am in regular Query Builder, I connect fine, see the tables in Object Browser, and run the query ok.

When I am in cross-connect Query Builder, I connect fine, see the tables in Object Browser, and run the query…….not OK.

I get the message "Got error 4206 ‘{0} Invalid data source definition: The UserId, Password or Account is invalid. ; Not enough inform’ from HUB.

(msg displayed below, assuming picture inserts properly)

Also, as you suggested earlier, I have opened a problem ticket to Support.

I am pretty sure the issue is with the ldap. Are you able to make an ODBC connection with Teradata. A work around would be to use an ODBC connection when using cross-query. Underneath the hood we are trying to make an ODBC connection to Terdata but we must no be able to get the string correct. I believe I saw a post yesterday of another user saying this is how they solved this issue.

Tell your support rep to make a sucbase and i will enter a ticket so we can look into this in the next release.

Debbie,

  1. I checked with our Teradata group, and they are asking if Toad Data Point provides the ability for encryption for the TD2 access.

  2. I tried the generic ODBC connection, and it connects, but the Query Builder doesn’t work.

  3. The sucbase you mention (and associated ticket); that is for allowing LDAP connections in a future release?

Thanks,

Lance

There is a “Use database encryption” option on the advanced tab of the connection.

I need more details on item 2. Can you give more detail to your support rep? Screenshots of the DSN and what you see in the object explorer? I might like to have myself and another attend another WebEx.

Yes, QAt-6740 has been entered to support LDAP connections for Cross-Query in a future release.

I still would like to see if we can get the ODBC connection to work for you in the mean time.

Debbie,

I was able to have our Teradata group set up a TD2 connection exclusive to me (company standard is LDAP, so thank you for QAt-6740).

There was an additional issue with my 32-bit Oracle client that your support helped me with. Now with TD2 and a clean Oracle 32-bit client, I connect successfully!

Thanks for the assistance!
