not really a critical issue, but here we go:
Toad for Oracle 12.12 Base Edition, Win10
Sometimes I totally forget that an editor view isn’t actually writable (like in the Schema Browser or in a describe window) after searching, reading and thinking for a while and happily start typing or editing. Normally nothing happens and I realize that I have to load the object into an actual Editor instance. This happened again right now, but this time I wanted to “block comment” (Ctrl+B per default) something out first so I could rewrite the section. To my surprise, Toad actually commented out all lines I had selected 
It seems block commenting ignores the write protection. Or the editor does not identify this particular shortcut as an actual edit (even though “block uncommenting” does not work). Anyway, after reloading the view or sending the content to an Editor instance the comments are gone, so this is a visual thing only.
