Could someone give me some guidance on how to reverse engineer an Advantrage Database. There are about 30 tables with indexes on my local machine that I would like to reverse engineer. I keep getting the error “Name of remote database misssing”. I think I know the name of the database but How do you connect to it. Where do you reference the datbase? Do you use an ODBC connection. I guess I need help with the connection setup part. The help function does not work with this trial version - could be because OS is Vista. What goes in the blank box with the “/” ?
thanks in advance
Hello,
Thanks for your questions on Toad Data Modeler 2.
Firstly, I’d like to ask you not to post questions on TDM 2 on this community. The Modeling community is a place where issues on Toad Data Modeler 3 are discussed.
Questions on TDM 2 trial should be sent to the Quest support team at: support@quest.com. Feel free to contact the team.
Thanks!
Nevertheless, let me reply.
TDM 2 is supported on the following operating systems: Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP. Vista is not supported and possibly this is the reason why TDM 2 Help doesn’t work for you.
(Note: Support for Vista is planned for TDM 3.1 version.)
TDM 2 supports Advantage 7 and 8 databases. During the RE, no problem should occur. ODBC and ADO connection methods are available. Please see the attached screenshots with ODBC settings. It might help you a little.
Regards,
Vladka
