Toad 12.7 is now GA

TOAD for Oracle Suites 12.7 is now live on the Support Portal!

Software and documentation are also available at the following location:

https://support.quest.com/toad-for-oracle/12.7

The 12.8 beta cycle will begin again very soon. Stay tuned …

Yay! And d’oh! Anyone able to get this installed? After deselecting all components other than base Toad (x64) and selecting “Next”, there’s a flash of a red screen, then the finish, with nothing installed.

I’ve tried the full and the web installers – no joy!

Hey Danny,

Yeah, the installer’s pretty self-explanatory. Other than the (hidden) .NET 4.0 requirement, it’s pretty clean and easy to use. I just can’t get it to work on Win7 SP1 64-bit.

Thanks!

Rich

Think I found it. The installer’s trying to schedule a Windows task to create a system restore point, which we disallow by policy. Is it possible to bypass that? I’d also need to know how that restore point could be used, as it could change how we’re able to do Toad installs for my co-workers.

Thanks!

Rich

Hi Rich-

I can’t speak to the bundle installer, only to the Toad MSI installer.

Having said that (in other words this isn’t official) - give this a shot, to disable the creation of the restore point at install time:

msiexec /i c:\your.msi MSIFASTINSTALL=1

You can read about MSIFASTINSTALL elsewhere.

If that doesn’t work, maybe you can extract the Toad Oracle msi from the package and just install that. I’m not explicitly doing anything with restore points,
but I believe Windows will do so regardless in certain circumstances. It’s not a topic I have much familiarity with.

Hey Rich - another possible solution - if you go to the downloads page, there’s a MSI (Special Installation Only) section - it has all the individual msi’s for the different products in a zipped file.

Oh, the Missy file! I completely overlooked that one!

I managed to temporarily trick my PC into letting me install Toad 12.7 (yay!). I’ll have to try the MSI on some unsuspecting co-worker. Because why mess up my laptop when I can mess up test on someone else’s? Well, I do have 30 more DB connections than anyone else and I write PL/SQL, too, so I’m not totally jerklike (without reason).

Thanks guys!
Rich
