TOAD for russian character set?

Hello everybody,

I am working with TOAD 9.7.2.5 installed on a Windows PC and ORACLE 10.2/11.2.

I am wondering if there is any way to get TOAD display Russian character set properly?
I tried to change my local machine’s character set to RU, but that didn’t do the trick.
Found a little tutorial in the internet and tried that, too. Unfortunately that doesn’t work for me either.

I am for sure not a professional in using TOAD, so I really hope you can help me and I appreciate any hint.

Thanks a lot!

Can you upgrade? Toad is a full Unicode application since Toad 10

Sure, I will ask my boss and fight for an upgrade if it works then.
Right now I use the command line, but it is a shame to have such a great tool but can’t use it.

Is there any official letter where I can refer to to make it reasonable to upgrade?

Thanks,

nellli

Hi nellli,

upgrade?

I think your best route is to contact your Quest sales rep. A great way
(for me at least) to do this is to download the Toad v10 Trial from:

Once your contact information is entered, your Quest sales rep is sure to
contact you. As a huge happy side effect, you should be able to try out the
new Toad for Oracle to see the Russian character set in action.

Good luck!

Disclaimer: I make databases.

First find out when you bought v9.7 – your license comes with a year free
of upgrades. You could still be in that window. To upgrade, you won’t
need to buy a new license, just renew your maintenance, which is much, much
cheaper for a majority of cases.

Nellli,

You can download the trial version and show your boss the differences
between 9.7 and 10.5 and how it handles Unicode.

Also check out this page for Whats New in version 10.0 and 10.5
http://www.toadworld.com/PRODUCTS/ToadforOracle/tabid/215/Default.aspx

This should give you plenty of fire power to get your boss to upgrade.

You can also call the 800# on Quest.com and ask to speak to a Maintenance
Renewal Rep.

Hi all,

I will download the trial today and hope I can install it
I am not admin on my local PC.

If I can’t install the trial I will find somebody who can

I have set the question to “answered”, because I now know which way to go.

You are great - every single of you did help.

Thank you all very much!

Best,
nellli

I just wanted to confirm that with TOAD 10.5 it works perfectly for me.
