Toad for SQL Server 8.1 is released!

Hi everyone, we released Toad for SQL Server v8.1 earlier this week. Below are a few of the enhancements included in this release. Besides these enhancements, we have added 4 of the ApexSQL products to the Toad for SQL Server Pro Plus Subscription and Toad for SQL Server Xpert Plus Subscription, ApexSQL tools added are:

  • ApexSQL Build
  • ApexSQL Doc
  • ApexSQL Source Control
  • ApexSQL Unit Test

Notable Toad for SQL Server enhancements:

  • Toad for SQL Server now supports the Azure SQL Managed Instance Cloud database using the following authentication types:
    SQL Authentication
    Microsoft Entra authentication (Formerly known as Azure Active Directory): Multifactor authentication, Integrated Windows authentication
    Windows authentication for Microsoft Entra principals
  • Toad for SQL Server now displays in-app messages informing users that they are entitled to product assets for additional software, and allows them to quickly download and use the tools from the Toad for SQL Server UI controls
  • When users restart the Toad for SQL Server application with an active number of editor tabs within the user interface, those tabs open automatically and are available upon restart
  • Run query option in the Context Editor menu: Users can now execute SQL scripts within the Editor working pane from the Context menu

I have Toad Data Point Version 6.2.3 (64 bit). Will I be able to access SQL Server- Azure database.

Where can we find training videos specific to Toad for SQL Server?

For those that used it, how is version 8.1? Is it stable, or any obvious bugs? Is it ready for production use, i.e. against production databases?

Every version of Toad for SQL I've ever used, going back about ten years, has spontaneously crashed at least once or twice a week. Having said that, it's worth it for the features, but now that I'm paying for a license it does chafe a bit.

I had the same experience. I've been using so far version 8.0.0.65 and it has been pretty stable for my usage patterns - I limit myself to querying the data. I am writing the stored procedures & views in DataGrip not in Toad, because the code completion doesn't always work especially in subqueries.
