Enhancement Request Summary:

Several customers, including PNC Bank, have requested functionality similar to SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) Registered Servers, allowing users to organize and manage SQL Server connections through centralized server groups.

Business Need:
Large enterprises often manage dozens or hundreds of SQL Server instances. SSMS provides a Registered Servers feature that allows users to:

  • Organize servers into folders/groups
  • Centrally manage server connections
  • Quickly connect to frequently used servers
  • Improve navigation and administration efficiency

Requested Enhancement:
Add a Registered Server Groups feature in Toad for SQL Server comparable to the SSMS implementation, including:

  • Hierarchical server groups/folders
  • Centralized server registration and management
  • Import/export capabilities
  • Quick access to registered servers from the Object Explorer

Customer Impact:
Multiple customers have requested this capability, including PNC Bank, citing improved usability and easier management of large SQL Server environments.
