TOAD12.7 bracketing

I originally posted this in the wrong forum.

How do I get the brackets around IF-ELSE-ENDIF, BEGIN-END, etc. that were in 12.6 to display in 12.7? Thanks.

12.6

12.7

The edit control does not support block staples (brackets) like previous versions. There is another feature that is not the same by any means, but if your code is formatted to align with tab stops it is helpful. Enable the "Show indentation guides" option on
the Editor|Display page in Toad's options. It will show vertical lines at tab stops.

Thank you. I was hoping that wasn’t the answer. I found that feature to be very useful. It doesn’t seem as if it was added that many versions ago and it makes no sense to me that it was removed.

It wasn't actually "removed". We replaced our old editor control with one from Scintilla. Although there are items that may seem like a step backwards, the benefits far outweigh them. We will also be continuing to upgrade and enhance so we will do what
we can to return any missing functionality.

How do we request to have this functionality returned. Just because the loss of this feature has made following code much more difficult, I have returned to 12.6.

It's already on the to-do list, but I don't have an estimate on when it will be returned.

I also hope it is returned soon as I too have reverted back to 12.6.

I am too, as I discovered a bug with the editor within seconds of trying to use it.

In fact, I’m going back to 12.5 as the autocomplete was way too slow in 12.6.

With every version, useful functionaility disappears due to ‘improvements’.

As long as they are happy though…

What was your Editor bug? Several have been fixed for the upcoming 12.7 patch.

Both 12.5 and 12.6 suffer performance problems with Code Insight and large schemas, the APPS schema of Oracle E-Business Suite has come up quite a bit. The performance bugs have been resolved for 12.7.

The lost bracketing has some workarounds. It's not exact, but pretty close. So far no one has written back to the posted workarounds with their thoughts. Do you care to share yours?

The workarounds are not adequate for me. Please have this added back. Thank you.

It has been almost two years since I originally posted this. Any hope in getting this feature reinstated?
