after how many rows in SAVE AS or EXPORT DATASET does Toad create a new worksheet?

#1

I tried searching in the HELPS and Toad WIKI and could not find an answer.

If you use an xlsx extension, it’ll go up to a million, but your PC will
probably run out of memory before you can export a million rows.

#3

After 65,000 rows.

Also if you select the option to not read the records into memory (into the
grid) but send them to the file directly?

Hi Wim,

Sorry for the delay. That option will help, but for the excel file option,
our 3rd party excel writing component stores data in memory until we call the
‘write to disk’ routine at the end. So you can still run out of
memory.

The ‘Excel Instance’ option does not have this limitation. I just
tried and was able to export a million row dataset that way (with the
‘export rows to grid’ option unchecked).
