Hello,
I am attempting to connect toad data modeler to an oracle database.
Toad data modeler is not detecting the oracle home and even when I attempt to use a Toad for Oracle connection if fails with end of communication.
Im not sure what information is needed from me. Im using toad data modeler 7.3.0.252 and connecting to oracle 19c
Thanks
Dave
Hi Dave, does the "bitness" of your Oracle client matches Toad edition (64 bit or 32 bit)?
If so, one suggestion would be to verify the Oracle Home's BIN directory is the first listed in the PATH Environmental Variable.
a. Right click on Computer and select Properties.
b. Click on "Advanced System Settings" on the left hand side of the window.
c. Click the “Environment Variables” button.
d. Under “System Variables” section (bottom portion), highlight “PATH” and click “Edit”.
e. Move the Oracle home bin directory to the front of the entire path including the semicolon, if it is not listed first. If it is not there at all, you will need to add it. (Example: C:\app\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin;)
Hope that helps out.
Hello,
I yes bitness matches.
I have my Oracle home set correctly. Toad Data modeler seems to be the only softwre not able to pick it up.
Toad for oracle, advanced sql optimizer, sql developer and sqlcl all find the home. is there a location I can hard set it in toad data modeler?
Also, I noticed quest bought Erwin, which software is going to be the one quest will support long term? Want to make sure I am dedicating time on the correct software.
Thanks
Dave
