Why should these settings be lost? Is there any way to preserve them during the conversion? I would also like to be able to share these settings with a colleague.

Unfortunately Model actions are not converted by model conversion. You can save action and load to other model, but only to same database type, because settings of model is different. So if you want share your model action to your colleague and you have same model type you can go to “Main Menu - Windows - Model Actions”. It open window for manage all models actions. Click to your model action and from toolbar choose save button. Action is now duplicated on disc and you can post to your colleague and they will be able load to their models (Again from Model Actions window).
