I’m having problems with the new Editor File Open Dialog box. I don’t need the preview window and I can’t get the file tree window wide enough to see all the nodes of the tree - when I try to widen the tree, I can only drag the handle so far to the right before it refuses to move further. Is there any way to revert back to the old File Open Dialog box (perhaps an option in the user settings)? If not, how about an option to turn off the preview window or allow us to resize the panes as we see fit? See attached image.
For the preview window, there is a Hide/Show Preview button (second from the right).

The splitter on the left is only letting you resize as far right as your folder names extend out. If you expand farther down a tree and get the folder names
where they extend beyond the visible area, it will allow you to resize.
If I then close and re-open the window, the position is saved, even though the folder tree is not extended out that far.
It seems to me that you should be able to freely move this splitter around as you want and the position should continue to be saved.

You can accomplish both of these tasks. To turn off the preview, click the “Show Preview” button in the toolbar. It will remember your last setting when the
dialog closes:
You can also resize the LHS tree. The “File name” and “File details” panels do have a minimum width and height; so if you need the LHS tree bigger, simply
increase the size of the dialog and you’ll be able to adjust the LHS tree size:
Again, the new size of the dialog and the width of the LHS tree will be remembered when the dialog closes and reopens.
I hope this information helps.

Thanks for the quick responses, you guys rock!! One more question, when I had the dialog window open, I widened it to suit my needs, resized the panes, and turned off the preview, then closed the dialog window. When I reopened it, the window resized back down to it’s original size (height and width). Is there an option to have it retain it’s last size (height and width), but open in the center of the window?
It should have retained its new size when you reopened the same dialog. The Open and Save dialogs do save their settings separately though (because they could
be used differently – ex: a user might want the preview on for the Open, but not for the Save). Is this perhaps what you’re seeing?

Hi John, it's not retaining its new size.
Steps to recreate:
-
Open "Open File Dialog" window, set window size (height / width).
-
Close "Open File Dialog" window.
-
Open "Open File Dialog" window - window size is not retained.
See attached images (named before and after).
Yep… Looks like that was a bug. It’s been fixed, and will appear in the next beta.
Thanks for catching this!
