Flat File Export using Specifications File

I am trying to automate a flat file export using a specifications file but I’m not sure how to do it. Normally I right-click on the grid to export the results as a flat file and I load my specifications file and it exports perfectly. Is it possible to automate that process?

Thanks for any tips!

What is your version of Toad? On the Export Dataset window is there a
camera icon on the bottom left?. If so that is for saving the action.

Once you get the info on the Export Dataset window all set up click the
camera and save that Action.

Once saved go to the main menu Utilities-->Automation Designer. Then
find your Action. From there select it and right click on it to
schedule it or run it.

I am in version 9.7.2.5. There is a camera in the lower left but I don’t know how to load the specification file from there. Normally I right-click on the results grid, choose Flat File Export and then load spec file.

The spec file and the table layout should be the same so it seems like the export using the spec file and the flat file export should be identical but when I compare the exported files the spacing doesn’t match between the two.

I am definitely not a Toad expert so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Thanks for your help.
