Generate a procedure call

Hello,

is in TOAD a feature, to generate a procedure call.

in the schema browser, right clikc, generate a procedure call

Example :

a procedure foo( a in varchar2 , b out varchar2 ) …

The result could be :

foo( a <= @a – IN VARCHAR2,

   b => @b -- OUT VARCHAR2 );

This would be usefule, because I can generate this call, but only

for public procdeures from a package.

This can be done already. If you select the package and then right-click and select Execute, you can then select which method from the package you want to execute and it will have you a place to enter in your variable values and will show you the code for it in the lower pane of the window. The syntax on this isn't exactly the same as what you are requesting, but it will get you close.

If you are using this in your PL/SQL, it is probably easier to enter the name of the procedure and then the first parenthesis and then wait. Toad will then give you the parameters, you can enter the first one and then tab to enter the next, etc. It is super easy and quick to do.

This is the window that comes up when you select Execute for the package.

You’re right, this works.

But, on my PC, (Intel i5 2x core, RAM 4Go, Windows 7 64), the code insight feature, is very slow, and,

often, Toad hangs or crashes. So, I have to inactivate it.

May you have a solution for me ?

I have many VmWare virtual machines where on the same configs Toad run perfectly. And I do use them a lot ...
Check your RAM use without Toad. If is more than 1.6-2GB then your windows is overloaded.

And there might be something in your Toad settings (profile ... upgrade several times ... and done at least ones "manually" .. or wrong) which makes Toad run bad ...
Or your Windows is "to ruined" (usually after careless registry optimization tools).
