Joining Excel with Oracle Tables

Hi i´m Patrick from Germany and i have troubles in joining tables from an Excel Connection with the tables from our company in the Oracle databases.

First i managed to solve the problems regarding the use of a 32-bit Office and the needed drivers for 64-bit Office to import or connect Excel tabele, e.g.

I now establishe a new excel connection with a table and followed the solution from this thread https://community.toadworld.com/products/toad-data-point/f/36/t/6472

I can drag the Excel table into the Query Builder but i am not able to drag the Oracle table as well. Nothing happens after dragging.

Somebody could help?

Greetings Patrick

Heterogeneous queries are supported in the Professional edition of Toad Data Point, so make sure you’re using that edition (Help | Licensing from the main menu).

Secondly, is the Oracle table not displayed in the query builder? With the Query Builder as the focused doc tab, try double-clicking on the Oracle table within the Object Explorer. This is an alternative way to populate the query builder with objects/tables.

If the Oracle table does not display, either by dragging/dropping it onto the Query Builder, or double-clicking the object within the Object Explorer, then there’s likely something wrong which would warrant a call to our Support Group.

Regards.

Make sure, too, that the schema owner is correctly filtered as the tables appear under a user.

Hi Gary,

i guess that i have the standard version. So i try to get the professional version first.

Thanks for your help so far.

If there is another workaround, e.g. importing the excel table or something else, than i would be very thankful for this information.

Greetings, Patrick

Hi Gary, thank you for your help. I guess that I#m using the satndard version, so I try to get another version first. I now have TOAD Data Point (Edition TOAD Data Point)and i could get TOAD Expert or TOAD Standard. Which one should I choose?

If there is anything else I colud do to solve my problems, e.g. any workarounds, please let me know.

Greetings, Patrick

Yes, download the Professional Edition of Toad DataPoint. You’ll like that you’ll not only be able to blend different data sources, but there are other valuable capabilities like visualization, data profiling, transformation & cleanse, and other features.

You do mention a work-around, which is to import your Excel data to an Oracle table, and then join that table with the others on your Oracle environment.

Is there a download link for a trial version of the professional edition. I only find a download option for Toad Data Point without specification if it´s the normal or the professional edition. In our companxy we only have Toad Data Point or maybe Toad Xpert. Will Toad Xpert match my needs?

The workaround will not do it for me, because I'm not allowed to create tables in the oracle db (read only).

Sincerly, Patrick

Sorry, Patrick, I should have included this link ( https://www.quest.com/register/54955/ ) where you can download the Toad Data Point trial. The trial flavor is Professional Edition and will give you the blending capability you need and more.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Hi Gary, thank you! I will ask our system department for the installation and give you a feedback if my problem has been solved.
