Hello,
Is there any wau to use Query Builder to access data that is stored in Excel and Access Files ?
Currently I have to load the data from the Office Files to a scratch table
in the DB then use those scratch tables, these queries are normally one time
deals and dont need to be re-used.
With having the option to Link to other Office Products this would save me from having to define the table in DB2 and the load the data.
Please let mew know.
Thanks
Paul
Paul,
Toad for DB2 does not support excel\access data in the Query Builder, however the Toad for Data Analysts (TDA) product does support those.
For more informaiton on TDA you can visit:

Hello,
Can we get this functionality added to TOAD for DB2 ?
I also opened an issue on the TDA forum as I found that
you can use access , but i ran into issues
Thanks
Paul
Paul,
Can you give us more information as to how you currently use Excel files and why you would think being able to use excel and access would benefit you within Toad DB2?
We are trying to identify how common a use case this would be for Toad DB2 customers.
Thanks
Jeff
Hello Jeff,
On a daily basis my users come to me with requirements to pull data, they have the key for the lookup and other data in excel/access files.
So for example today alone I had 35 requests for various types of data.
For each request I had to create a table in DB2 add the columns set the attibutes etc…
With having this available in toad for db2 this would save me a great deal of work, as I estimated it took my 3.5 hours today to address the data loads.
THE TDA tool doe not have everthing I need in order to do my day to day job.
Hopefully this provides you the details you need.
Thanks
Paul
