Moving to a new machine & TOAD 10 at the same time

Hi

I have TOAD v9.7.2.5 on my current laptop. I’m setting up a new laptop,
and want to put TOAD v10 on it. FYI, the old machine has XP, the new machine has
Vista.

My guess is the easiest way to get my preferences across is simply to install
v10 from scratch on my new machine, then copy my v9.7.2.5 user files directory
over to my new machine. Anyone see any problems with this?

P.S. Yes, I did check asktoad first, and if the answer is there, I didn’t
see it

Hey Mike,

The easiest way to do this is to copy your TOAD 9.7 app data folder to a thumb
drive (or to the new machine) in a separate folder. Your 9.7 app data folder
should be located in:

C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for
Oracle\9.7

Then, on your new machine, install Toad 10. When you initially start Toad, it
will ask you for a license key. You’ll need to re-enter this key into the
license window of Toad 10. Once that’s done, it will take you to the
initial setup wizard. The first dialog that appears will be the dialog to
migrate user settings, as in the following example:

Initially, it will have “Do not copy my user files” selected because
no other version of Toad exists on the machine. Simply select the “Copy
previous user files” option, and click on the ellipse button. This will
bring up a dialog to allow you to select the folder containing TOAD’s user
files from 9.7, as in the following:

Simply select this folder, click OK, and then click the “Next”
button back on the migration window. It will prompt you to reboot Toad, and on
the reboot will migrate your user files over to TOAD 10’s newly created
app data folder.
